“Don’t Care” To Get That Job You Deserve
You need a job, and want one yesterday.
You have been sending out resumes for 3 months or more, maybe a few interviews. How can you maximize your interview performance? Yes, I used performance as if you were on a stage. You are the talent and showcasing all the skills you can provide. There are two ways you can do this: Over anxious, aggressive, fast, too giddy, and over ambitious. The other way is: Seeing it, like everything else in life as a “game”. Here are the tips:
1) See the interview as a stage. You are the performer. Perform. Fit the role of the position as if you have it. Don’t come in for a VP title with the posture of and (clothes) a manager.
2) Have a “don’t care” attitude. This means simply to take it light, easy. This does not mean to act rude or uninterested. “Don’t care” in a spiritual sense means to let go of the outcome. When a job is yours, it is yours. The best jobs I’ve had were the ones I did not care about. They always called back. I wonder why? 😉
3) Position yourself as valuable. Employers are like boyfriends, they usually want you when someone else does. When you are relaxed and “don’t care” they see you as an asset and want that stabilizing force in their company.
Remember, never boast. Always provide examples of your value in a general sense, never make promises about what you can do.
If you read the tips again, you’ll notice you can use this for living everyday life. Now, go out and there and get ready for that phone to ring.
