How You Know You Are Going In The Wrong Direction
You have a good inner circle of intelligent, resourceful people who would go to bat for you. They pick up the phone when you call. They come to your events, meetings, and even buy your ideas or products. You have known them for years, maybe even their families.
But something’s wrong.
You feel further away from professional and personal goals than you ever have. Sure, you are content, maybe even satisfied. But there’s a pesky little thought that keeps creeping in: Something doesn’t feel right.
There’s a part of you craving for more. You’re an expert, seasoned, and you know what you’re doing. But you feel empty. Exhausted. Rushed. Too busy.
What Going In the Right Direction Looks Like
Going in the right direction is a flow-state. You know you’re in it when the phone rings and it’s that venture capitalist you’ve been thinking about. Or when that $10,000 check comes in – finally. Or when your work-day flows and you blurt out at least 3 things you successfully completed without thinking. You glow. You shine.
It also feels like:
Grace – the flow state you experience when God, is working on your behalf without you getting in the way.
It is also feels like:
Calm – you respond to emails, schedule things accordingly, and pad in enough free time to think and wander alone.
It is also feels like:
A roaring river – full of life and rhythm knowing exactly its destination.
It’s okay to pivot and change this direction. But you won’t do it with the people you already know attracted to an older version of you. Your current circle is there to support your growth, not necessarily perpetuate it. You expand with new people, and contract with your inner circle. Not the other way around.
