Weekend Rewind: Get Your Hustle On: Part III

Create Your Own Economy
Create Your Own Economy

If you are not working on a plan to make money online you don’t know how to make money.

Especially in these economic times, blogging has become one way you can create your own economy whether you keep your full time job or not.

How I got into this whole thing was by accident.  I was reading and writing blogs on BallerAlert and it appealed to me how you can quickly build an audience for a product or service.  I had fun writing about issues that interested me.  But I have always been a writer, just not a online writer.  I started my own blog to see what happens.  I used to think that blogging was a hobby–until I got my first check.

There are bloggers making upwards of $30,000 a month.   The average is usually $300-5000/mo from advertising, affiliate marketing and other ways.   However, only a small % of bloggers make money because they get bored and give up.   I’m one Alphanista that will dump something if it gives me no drive.  I will leave it alone after a few weeks.   But I have been blogging everyday now for almost a two years.  Eventually, I’d like to support myself fully on blogging and building other niche sites.   It is a lot of work, but I like getting checks while I sleep and help others.   Blogging does that.  When I got my first check, I called everybody.  Even the folks who thought what I was doing was a waste of time.  I’m sure someone told the Twitter people that they were wasting theirs.

Twitter has millions of visitors but makes no money.  However, someone will buy them at any moment and they will rake in millions, like YouTube.  That’s worth the wait.  So, what are you waiting for?  It’s worth it to test it, educate yourself, and give it a try.  Here are some reasons why folks start blogs:

  • If you are working full time at a corporate gig there are all kinds of niche blogs you can create based on your expertise
  • If you want to create passive, part time income
  • If you want to build your brand or create a new one

Check out this lady’s story who paid off over $70,000 in debt just by blogging in 18 months.  I highly recommend The Niche Blogger – Make Money Blogging program if you know nothing about blogging or if you are a blogger who needs advice and tools on marketing and making money.  This woman takes you step by step, month by month on how she did it.  I paid and signed up for it already.

Do not sleep on this.   If you are committed and you have an interest, start a blog.  If you don’t know what to blog about, find a niche or start a blog promoting someone else’s product, called affiliate marketing, and make money.   Blogger.com and WordPress.org are the most popular platforms for blogging, but you need a program to tell you how to use it.

An Alphanista is always ahead of the curve, are you?

Monica that is completely true especially how it plays up in other parts of our lives, not giving things the time they need to develop–can work from baking a cake to dating a man. A blog needs time, good thing is you can work it while you work. There are no excuses. Who doesn’t like money or at least the potential of it?

  2. Great info on creating one’s own personal economy. It’s not enough to wait around for others to “give” us anything. We’ve got to make our own way, and creating is the way to do that. Whether it’s a business, a blog, an organization or whatever seems to match our purpose.

And you pointed out something I talk about in my book, Zoom Power: Your Key to Hitting Your Personal, Business and Financial Targets and in speaking engagements: it’s not about who starts, it’s about who stays in the game. Most people fail because they don’t hang in there long enough to see the results. So if they start blogging and don’t immediately see income (as can often be the case), they give up, not realizing that if they had just given it more time, their lives could have been completely different.

And I speak from experience: It took me four years of hard work before my business turned a profit. If I had given up after the first one, two or three years, I’d be back at somebody’s 9 to 5, complaining about what they were paying me, instead of the independent business owner I am today.

So create your own economy, and hang in there long enough for it to start paying you!

@THC you are not alone most people just RECENTLY started making money online because it’s the thing now!

I didn’t use any courses off hand but had people who helped me learn the ropes, The Niche Blogger is great for the structure it gives me and I’m just floored by her story with 4 kids and the debt. I believe she’s working on a book deal, and I’d love to work on a book on how I was able to do the same.

If you can’t write, there are folks that will do it for you, sites like Guru.com have tons of folks looking to bid on writing projects. So if you want a weight loss blog and don’t know jack about weight loss but you know it is a multi million online business you can pay folks to write content who do know.

I say if anyone is serious sign up for something and do something. You don’t have to leave your job until you make money you’re happy with.

  4. You know, I been blogging for years, and just recently began making money from it. And like you say; the only ways to survive doing this is by blogging about something you’re passionate about, and have somewhat of an expertise in.

I was lucky though, because I already had the audience and following, so as soon as I added my affiliates, my audience jumped right in and supported me.

I notice that when I post blogs that are helpful and gives advice, my traffic increases. So I will usually add my affiliate links to those types of blog posts.

This is a GREAT hustle if you like writing, but it’s IMPORTANT that your blog has useful content, or your readers won’t return.

I wonderful sista who makes 6 figures off blogging is Lisa Irby. She is my ultimate GO-TO chick for the latest information about this hustle!
