Fathers Are The New Mothers?

questionmarkWhatever happened with just asking a gal out on a date and see what happens?

A couple of days ago Oprah had a show about fathers, and some who chose to be fathers without women.

When the Chinese said “may you live in interesting times”, they meant that as a warning. Here’s the excerpt from the NY Times Style section some time ago:

Joe Kurtzer, 45, an executive with a financial services company in the Boston area, said he was 39 and fresh from a failed relationship in 2002 when he decided to raise a child on his own. “I didn’t want to be 50 years old having a child,” he said.

Why not just work on building a relationship with a nice gal and have a baby, and yes, maybe get married? When did this become the last resort instead of the first? Who would choose to raise a child by themselves? On the Oprah show there was a man with like 16 kids or something.  He works so he’s not there 100% of the time, and the responsibility must fall on the other children.

An alpha would mostly likely never go that route without feeling like a failure of some sorts.  Just stuff to think about….

Rarity and I don’t anticipate Black men following this trend AT ALL!!! Honestly, unless it’s Gay Black men of a certain income. @THC I agree. Most brothas leave the kids and cut a check or aren’t there at all.

  2. I wouldn’t worry too much about this trend of chosen single fatherhood. Most men just aren’t that interested in reversing the roles with women. Even married men tend to leave the child rearing shit to their wives.

I agree, I think women are to blame for this to a point. Women are now proud to express that they don’t need a man, so maybe now men don’t need us either. But in the end it’s the children who loose out.

Women are to blame for this. Look at our neighborhoods we havent done a good job raising kids anyway.

THAT IS SO SAD…I can see two gay men, maybe working with a female to have a baby, but a man who just wants to avoid the whole relationship drama and do it solo is odd to me.
