Alphanista Moment: The Alfalfa Club Dinner
April 14, 2009

Obama At Alfalfa Dinner
Probably never heard of it until this year.
President Obama spoke at the January 2009 dinner who first admitted blacks in the 1970s. The Alfalfa Club is an uber-exclusive-even-Oprah-isn’t invited-DC social club that touts influential politicians and corporate executives as its members. Don’t wait for your invite in the mail. It exists only to hold an exclusive dinner once a year and a picnic. A legacy sort of club, you can’t just apply. President Obama’s words at the dinner really sums up what it’s all about.
He said, to laughs,”I know that many of you are aware that this dinner began almost 100 years ago as a way to celebrate the birthday of General Robert E. Lee,” who commanded the Confederate army during the Civil War. “If he were here with us tonight, the general would be 202 years old. And very confused.”
I wonder why? Here’s more:
There’s really not much about it online. But I hear the Mayflower Hotel that time of year is booked, ahem!
This is definitely the level a true alpha plays at. The Alfalfa Club finally opened its doors to women in 1994, thanks to Former President Bill Clinton, who boycotted the event and turned down their invitation. Bill, always has a lady’s back
Another alphanista moment that makes you ask yourself: What are you doing to make a way to that “other” place?
