Alphanista Hall Of Fame: Nola Darling

Remember her?

That’s the chick in Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It from back in the 80s.  If you are an 80s baby, keep reading, because you can learn alot from Ms. Darling.  Now, from what I remember, Nola was the center of attraction for 3 men.  These three men adored her and vied for her attention.  No man really knew how Nola really felt about them.  But each one felt like the main one, or at least, she made them feel that way when they were together.  Sound familiar?

She wasn’t terribly attractive, but charming.  Nola was a woman who was very aware of her sexuality and understood men.  She was good in bed.  Even better, good with words.  These men were basically play dough  in her hand.  Each man was different, and suited her unique needs.  She was a different woman for each one.  All the while, remaining Nola to herself.

She broke and mended hearts.  She was complicated, passionate, deep and vulnerable.  She was a quintessential alpha female archetype.  Almost every woman I know wished they had a Nola in them where they could pick and choose from a pool of very interested men, who would do anything to be with them.  Very few women can be like Nola in everyday life.  These days a woman can get hurt going around breaking the wrong man’s heart, and yes, even wallet.

But was Nola just a tormented woman, a soul who really needed love but was so selfish, she took it instead?  Was she just a bad example of a woman?  Or was she just an alpha female?

I nominate her for induction in the Alphanista Hall Of Fame, yay or nay?
