Just in time for summer! Fix your man a drink….
As the weather gets nicer, it’s time to whet your appetite and your alpha’s, too, with something sweet, sour, or tingly. Fix your man a drink!
Whether he’s coming from a hard day at the office or sleeping in late Sunday morning, surprise him with a nice drink in bed. Invest in a case of nice glasses–sniffers, flutes, and lowballs, martinis, shot glasses and the like.
1. His favorite cognac in a sniffer when he comes home from work–Hennessey, Grand Marnier
2. Jack n Coke , especially if he has an SEC case
3. Bellini on Sunday morning while he’s still in bed–(first created at the legendary Harry’s Bar in Venice made with prosecco and peach nectar)
These other two are non alcoholic options, perfect to enjoy with dinner or light lunch:
4. The Elixir
1.5 oz ginger-lime syrup (a simple syrup made with 2 parts sugar to 1 part water, with lime zest and ginger added and allowed to macerate 2-3 days before straining)
1.5 oz water
0.75 oz fresh lemon juice (strained)
0.5 oz mint syrup
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously with ice. Strain into a julep cup full of crushed ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a lemon twist.
5. La Bohème Noir
4 oz black tea (We brew China Keemun Hao Ya “A” from T Salon. We suggest not placing the brewed tea in the fridge to cool as it can cloud. Instead, allow to stand unrefrigerated overnight.)
1.5 oz lavender-infused honey (a simple syrup made with 2 parts honey to 1 part water, steeped with lavender for 1/2 an hour)
0.5 oz elderflower cordial (non-alcoholic, of course!)
Same instructions as above. You may garnish with fresh fruit of your choice or a sprig of lavender.
HONORABLE MENTION: A glass of Port wine. It’s not your typical wine, and has an alcohol content of about 20%, way more than your glass Merlot. Dow’s and Graham are exceptional brands, look for Douro region origins and deep, rich colors.
