She is the mama of a child(ren). What is wrong with that? Several years ago, she referred to Barack Obama at the 2004 Democratic National Convention where he gave the keynote speech, and as her “baby daddy”. No one said a word then. The Obamas were both quite mum on this “baby mama” issue when it came out weeks ago for obvious reasons. It’s just not a big deal. It’s a term of endearment that many black couples, married or not, say to each other. Perhaps, it was a big deal since it was FOX NEWS or when the NY Times wrote an actual story breaking down what the word means. That was such a 1993 move. The words “baby daddy” and “baby mama” are all over the celebrity magazines—OK!, Life & Style, In Touch, US, and more. It’s cute, it’s fun, it’s what’s happening. Thank you to Obama and ‘em for not turning this into a march of some kind. Oh, my bad, that’s Jesse and ‘em.

This week Russell and Kimora were in the news because folks found out (somehow

that he has to pay $500K a year in child support for the two girls. People just thought it was Kimora being her outrageous self again, but after reading what Russell said, I understand now:
“Regarding the money, my kids live a tremendous life. They do have lots of security, nannies, educators, special programs, travel, chefs, on and on. Their mother manages all of those luxuries and I’m happy to provide for that.”
Can we be mad at that? The man is a p-r-o-v-i-d-e-r. With all that money, what else can he do with it? Going skiing in the Alps? The thing about men like Russell is that they will continue to make money, and more money. Kimora, she’s doing good, but you know, how she got started. Anything could happen.
Kudos to the two for working that out like the best baby mama and daddy in all of us.

Did anyone read that mess of an interview in the current July issue of Bazaar? I think it was the photos that looked strained. That she was trying too hard to portray that sexy mom look. I didn’t get it. Bridge, dear, you’re not the model Giselle is, build a bridge and get over it! She’s showed a bit of vulnerability in the interview when she said, “When you’re suddenly pregnant and no one is standing by your side, even if you’re in your 30s, it’s a hard conversation,” she continues. “I’m a traditional girl, and I believe in marriage, and I just always thought that’s the way I’d be doing this. For a moment, it was hard for me to accept that this was the way I was going to have a family. I’ve had to recognize that there are just so many different options today.” I understand, Bridge, but still why would a 38 year old woman date a 25 year old NFL groupie magnet? Moving on…
